Good thing tomorrow is Friday

I should have been in bed almost 2 hours ago but I'm staying up to keep an eye on Cams. Last night his feet and legs swelled and kept getting worse, so I drug him out at midnight to get Benadryl. Well, he had a reaction to that which freaked me out so I had Waylon come home from work. Now tonight his feet have been swelling a little and he has a rash on his wrist. I talked to his wonderful pediatrician today and he just told me to watch to see if it happens again, so I guess I'll have to give him a call and bring him in tomorrow. We haven't used anything new, so I have no clue as to what could be causing it.

So here I am, sitting up to make sure the swelling doesn't spread anywhere else, while he's peacefully sleeping. Last night I was up till 2am. I'm glad tomorrow is friday. Shouldn't someone have told me about all this scary stuff? Thanks for the notice people.

He likes prunes...what an old man

You'll have to excuse Waylon from saying "geriatric"...I don't like that word and he didn't even use it correctly.

Dear Sweet Potatoe, I love you.

This is week number 2 for solids. You may remember last week was apple sauce, which he liked. We bought a few jars of sweet potatoes (yes, I know, I need to go buy a processor so I can make it) and he gobbled up the entire jar at once, while the apple sauce took 3 days for 1 jar. And man, I just couldn't feed him fast enough. He wanted more in his mouth the second he swallowed, and he was constantly grabbing the spoon trying to cram it down his throat. Needless to say....sweet potatoes were a hit. I think we will go on to pears next week, followed by carrots. Mmmmm. Now mommy wants some chocolate cake.

OOL...Notice the P is left out, lets keep it that way

Camden had his first adventure to the pool Sunday and really enjoyed it. He loves taking baths so I figured he would. It had rained a lot the day before and that morning so the pool was pretty cold, but he loved it anyway. I wish he would have liked wearing his sunglasses because they were so adorable but he just didn't want anything to do with them. I told him he looked cool in them and that the little girls at the pool would think he was Mr. Hot Stuff, but I guess at 4 months old girls still have cooties....right? By the end of his fun day of swimming he had a HUGE diaper that looked like he had absorbed the entire pool, and he was flat out exhausted.

Multi-tasking Mama

Have you ever had to breastfeed your baby while going to the bathroom, because if you sat them down before they were done you'd have a screaming child? So there you are trying to hold your baby, pull down your pants with one hand, use the restroom, and run the bath all at the same time. Or have you had the baby in a baby carrier, feeding them a bottle while you're trying to cook supper and do laundry, and help with homework, all while talking on the phone to Sara?

That's why moms are superheros. We have to learn very quickly to do a zillion things at once. And lets just keep in mind that men have a hard time just trying to watch a game and scratch their butt...I mean, what in the world are they supposed to do with the beer they are holding?!? It's total chaos!

Alright, back to the point. The other day I had my first true case of multi-tasking. Those of you moms out there might already know that getting a chance to shave your legs doesn't come around very often (sorry hubbies). Well, I had enough! When I can practically put bows in my leg hair I know it's time to get the lawn mower out! Camden was just waking up as I was trying to climb into the bath so I put him in his bouncer and pulled it next to the tub. I lather my legs up with shaving cream and start the long process of shaving those things when Camden decided he needs a bottle in his mouth that very second. I jump out (still covered in shaving cream) and get a bottle. Here comes the multi-tasking part. I'm back in the tub with my leg up in the air shaving, while holding the cell to my ear with my shoulder (it's rare I get to catch up with this particular friend), all while sticking my other arm over the side of the bath so I can feed Camden his bottle. What a sight that must have been!

Good job to those of you other super moms out there that have 9 extra imaginary arms! Good job.

Peace, love, & tons of diaper blow-outs.

Let there be apple sauce!

At Camdens 4 month appointment last Monday (6-8-08) Dr. McCown gave us the OK to try some solid foods. Last night we bought some organic apple sauce (I plan to make my own baby food once I buy a processor) and plopped Camden up on the washing machine...Yes, the washing machine. Our apartment is rather small, too small for a high chair, so we use his bumbo chair (a wonderful invention by the way) with the tray on it. He seemed to really like the apple sauce, but had quite some trouble keeping it in his mouth. There was apple sauce everywhere! Up his nose, in is neck rolls, down his diaper, and in his tiny little butt crack. It amazes me how they manage to hide food in all their crevices. For those of you who aren't at the solid stage yet, here's a tip for you....strip them down to their birthday suits and have the bath ready!

Things I wish I would have known; Pregnancy, Labor, and Motherhood

I'll start with pregnancy.....

When you are growing a human you have to be very careful when you cough, sneeze and laugh, and a pantie liner is your best friend.

You have to go to the bathroom (numero uno) every 5 minutes and most of the time it will be for nothing. I can't tell you how many times I ran to the bathroom thinking my bladder was about to burst, and nothing happened. Although, if I knew before handI don't know if I would have risked staying at my desk.

You can have constant hot flashes, and sweat like a pig in the middle of winter. I bet my co-workers thought my arm pit sweat screaming it's way through my sweater was oh so sexy.

On to delivery.....

80% on women have a bowel movement during delivery...enough said.

Giving birth doesn't hurt everyone. I was so scared of the pain I couldn't enjoy the prep time. Everyone said it hurt even with an epidural. Well, I was scared to death for nothing. I had an epidural and a complete pain free delivery. My son, Camden, was 8lbs 5oz. I had a 2nd degree episiotomy, he got stuck, and I almost had to have an emergency c-section and even after all of that it was pain free. I do have to make note that I was pretty uncomfortable before the epidural (which didn't hurt) and pushing was exhausting....but it was over all a pain free, nice experiance.

You can bleed MUCH longer than the normal 4-6 weeks after. I think I seriously need to be sponsored by Kotex. It's still going strong and Camden is now 4 months old.

Finally to the baby part.....

Breast milk stains. I don't know why because the milk in my fridge has never stained. It's a mystery!

Breats feeding is hard work and not everyone can produce enough milk. I didn't, and I had to keep telling myself that it wasn't my fault, and that I am a great mom.

A teeny adorable baby butt can be a weapon of mass destruction and they somehow manage to poop out their diaper, up their back, and smear it on the back of their neck.

It doesn't matter if your baby boy just wet his diaper...the instant you remove it there goes old faithful.
